Network Security
Network security consists of policies, processes and practices adopted to prevent, detect, and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification and denial of computer network and network-accessible resources.
Just think about your firm, how bad would it be if you lost access to your files, emails.
For too long security has taken a back seat, however, with so many firms and organisations becoming the target of hackers, it is now attracting the attention it deserves. There are many different types of cyber security, but this article will focus on Network security. How you implement it will of course depend on your business model, many small firms will feel this is an arduous task.

It is also worth noting that a report in 2019 by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) found that police at a local level, did not have the funding or the ability to assist firms if hit by a cyber-attack. The report stated that there was a lack of capability in roles such as analysts. Which is in stark contrast to the ever-growing number of crimes committed online.
